At the Nokia Connection 09 event in Singapore, Nokia announced the Nokia E72, 5530 XpressMusic, 3710 fold.

Taking its cue from the Nokia 5800, this music and entertainment device has a full touch interface and a new home screen and Contacts Bar – all in a sightly smaller and sleeker package. This device not only brings the great media handling that one comes to expect from an XpressMusic phone, but the new Contacts bar brings your people to the forefront.

This phone has a large touch screen with tactile feedback (I like to say it touches you back) and no physical keys; a 3.2-megapixel camera and LED flash; Bluetooth, WiFi, and EDGE for all your connection needs; a music player for all the stuff you download from the Nokia Music Store; widescreen video playback at 640×360; hot-swappable MicroSD slot (4GB included); and a standard 3.5mm audio plug for your rocking headsets.

There’s the Media Bar drop-down that’s also on the Nokia 5800, for quick access to the music player, browser, and photos. But on the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, you can also define 4 shortcuts for the home screen (say, for Facebook or MySpace quick links). Also, one of the big additions, we think, is the new Contact Bar that lets you have up to 20 contacts, making it easy to quickly call or send a message, review conversation history, or follow the contact’s feed. It’s like a quick dashboard on your 20 most important people. What’s more, add a pic to those contacts and your peeps are front-and-center.

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic should start shipping in the third quarter of 2009 at around €199, retail, before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia E72
The all new Nokia E72 boasts a host of new features including optical scrolling and a five-megapixel camera. Building on the success of the E71, the E72 takes the very best of Nokia’s most successful QWERTY device and makes it even better. The super-slim 10mm frame has been refined with some sleek design touches and inside the device is treated to a range of user interface improvements too.

The optical navigation key makes scrolling through emails a breeze and also helps bounce around the menus quickly and easily. The camera has been upgraded to a full five megapixels and heavy data users will love the support for up to 10.2Mbps connections over HSDPA. The audio jack has also had the upgrade treatment with 3.5mm jack now appearing on the top of the device.

Nokia Messaging is also on board (with a lifetime license) and now supports access and easy set up for Instant Messaging accounts including Yahoo! Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi, amongst others. Email set up is even easier than before through Nokia Messaging, Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler.

Sound quality on calls is improved with the addition of active noise cancellation and navigation gets a boost with the addition of a digital compass. Maps is also integrated and comes with a lifetime walk and 10 days of turn-by-turn navigation, if activated within the first three months. You don’t need to be worried about getting caught in the dark either – a single press on the spacebar key will activate the torch!

The Nokia E72 is expected to begin shipping late in the third quarter of 2009 at an estimated retail price of €350 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia 3710
The 3710 fold is Nokia’s latest clamshell camera phone, and arrives on the scene with sharp, speedy and low cost photo-sharing front of mind. When it launches later this year the Nokia 3710 fold will come floating a price tag of around 140 Euros, making this well-dressed 3.2-megapixel 3G handset stand out as a price-savvy, snap-and-share caller.

Enabling you to take quality photos and share them easily online, via services such as Ovi Share, is certainly top of the agenda for this point-and-shoot camera phone. It’s 3.2 megapixel camera with flash means it’s geared up to take crisp shots, and paired with 3G access helps ensure that sharing your best snaps is a quick and painless process. Plus, it comes with a new Photo Gallery that has been designed to make sorting, viewing and editing your shots equally as effortless.

The Nokia 3710 is built on a Series 40 backbone, so it’s primed to take full advantage of the new content on the Ovi Store. It features onboard A-GPS, a 2.2-inch QVGA screen, second camera for video calls, stereo music player, FM radio and Bluetooth.

It’s slated to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2009 for around 140 Euros. Click on the photo thumbnails below to see the new Nokia 3710 fold up close and in detail.
